Flatrock Music & Arts Festival May 28th

This Saturday the Flatrock Music and Arts Festival will be held at the Coleman Community Center featuring Nashville's best in music and art.  Last year I went and came home with three great pieces of art and I spent less than $300.  If you're looking to grow your collection without a lot of money this festival is for you!

I know many great artists and songwriters that will be participating this year, so go and support our local community!  Artist Kelly Parsons will be there with lots of great work and artist/songwriter and creator of Nashville Art Makers, Ronny Criss will be hitting the acoustic stage around 12:30.  My friends from Simon Ripley's Music and Art will be there too so go say hi, they're the best!

What I love best about this festival is how they connect the entire community together.  I wrote an article about just that last year, and you can read it again by clicking here.  It's kinda feels like a music and arts family reunion -- so if you love music and art, go check it out Saturday, May 28th from 10 AM - 4 PM and go early too because I promise the art will be gone at the end of the day!

Nashville's Summer Guide for Outdoor Events

There's nothing quite like sitting outside in your lawn chair, hanging with friends, listening to music and enjoying the day. That's probably one of my favorite things to do and thankfully there are plenty of places in Nashville to do just that.

Outdoor events are kicking off this summer season with music, art and movies almost every week until the fall. So mark your calendar and set a date for you and your friends to make some memories in Music City!

Remember to gear up on outdoor essentials so that you’ll be completely comfortable sitting under the trees. I’ve listed some of my favorites below including vintage picnic baskets, lawn chairs and the perfect outfit for outdoor entertainment.

Musician’s Corner
Musicians Corner is a central point, free and open to all, where Music City gathers to perform and enjoy its music. Music in all forms. Music to entertain us, build bridges within our community, welcome our visitors and connect us with the world.

Outdoor Concert Series at Crockett Park in Brentwood

Enjoy live music with your family, Sunday evenings at 7 p.m., in the incredible, state-of-the-art outdoor Eddy Arnold Amphitheatre. With lawn seating that can hold between 2,500-3,500 people, finding a spot won’t be a problem, but mark these days on your calendar because this is one Sunday evening treat you won’t want to miss!

Full Moon Pickin' Party

Friends of Warner Parks presents the tenth season of Full Moon Pickin' Parties running May through October 2011.  These family-friendly fundraisers feature Middle Tennessee's finest bluegrass music under the light of a full moon. Pickers form circles under the trees and around the grounds performing and jamming while several headliners are featured on stage.

When: Fridays – June 17, July 15, August 12, September 9, October 14 7-11 PM

Cheekwood Nights
Cheekwood will be the setting for a series of Friday night events that unfold as the sun drops behind the rolling hills of Nashville.   With musical acts of varying genres spread throughout the Garden, several different art exhibitions on view, and children’s activities in our studios, Cheekwood is the only place to be on the first Friday of every month. Each Cheekwood Night will culminate with a live concert on the lawn by local Nashville bands.

Nashville Scene's Free Movies in the Park

Join the Nashville Scene at our 16th annual Movies in the Park. This event kicks off at sunset every Wednesday night in June at Centennial Park and features fun treats, drinks and snacks from Lotus Energy, The Grilled Cheeserie, Cupcake Collection, Fleur de Lis, Moosehead Kettle Corn, Tin Can Treats, Chili Pop's, Moe's Southwest Grill and Joe's Crabshack.

Nashville's Hip With Live Outdoor Concerts

Fall is in the air, the weather is beautiful and Nashville is stepping out of the air condition and onto the grass soaking up the sounds of live music. That's right, Nashville's outdoor concert series is here!

Live On The Green and Musician's Corner are free outdoor concerts that grace Music City's grassy lawns weekly. They are perfect for all types of music lovers and bring together our amazing community one song at a time. Check out these events and get ready for the good times.

Live On The Green

This is a free 6 week concert series located on the perfectly manicured lawn in front our dear Mayor Dean's office at City Hall. If the work week is getting you down, then come out on Thursday nights to start your weekend early. Live On The Green is the place to let your dreads down. Bring a blanket, chair and a little cashola for food and drinks. Dog's are welcome too! Escape the overpriced downtown parking by riding you bike or park under the the Public Square Plaza for only $3. Tonight's line up features Tom Foolery @ 6:30, Joe Robinson @ 7, Moon Taxi @ 7:45 and The Wailers @ 9.



Musicians Corner

If you're looking for a more laid back afternoon in the grass kind of feel Musicians Corner is exactly that! It is located in the shade and on a naturally sloping amphitheater at the southwest corner of Centennial Park (next to Hog Heaven). Bring your kids, dogs, blankets and picnic baskets for an afternoon of great music and relaxation. This Saturday is featuring Danny Salazar, Alvin Love, Verlon Thompson and Kazique Band.

If you are a live outdoor concert junkie then you'll love this! The Starry Nights Festival is a 3-day music fest only an hour North of Nashville in Bowling Green, KY. There will be 2 stages, 30 bands and three nights of camping out under the stars. Tickets are $59 in advance and $79 at the gate. Don't forget it's BYOB.
