Well well well and my oh my there's a ton of exciting music and art events happening in the next few days and coming month.

So I'm going to keep it simple and give you the low down on the all the music and art centered events with info and links.  Please retweet and share!

The Hillsboro Village Art Walk is this Thursday from 5-8 pm with many new artists and exhibits!  Chuck Beard (local art blogger) has already summed up the event in his recent review, Another Month of Love and Art. See ya at the walk!

Friday, February 3rd

Meet n' 3 is like a Friday night fair of all your favorite things -- local art, food trucks, music and the Farmer's Market!  The event will go down on Friday from 6-9 pm at the Farmer's Market.  It's sponsored by Metro Arts Commission, Nashville Food Trucks, & Lightning 100--Nashville's Independent Radio!  One of my favorite local artists and friend, Bennett Art will be showing her newest work.  Don't miss the party!

Downtown Art Crawl is Saturday, need I say more?  You know the drill -- dress up, get downtown and preview Nashville's most exciting galleries from 6-9 pm.

If you've never been to the Country Music Hall of Fame Museum -- now is your chance!  Save twenty bucks and go on Saturday -- it's FREE!

On Going and Upcoming Events

Lucy's Country Cafe is a brand new meat n' three restaurant that opened last Monday by hit songwriter Bobby Pinson (“All I Want To Do,” “Lost You Anyway”) and his wife Lucy.  It's in the Bluebar on Division Street and serves an all-you-can eat menu of meats and your favorite vegetables.  Also starting February 8th will be Wednesday night Sing for Your Supper as a great songwriters night – hosted by Terri Jo Box and brought to you by Nashville Muse.

On February 10th at the Nashville Library there will be a workshop where you can make Valentines Day cards out of recycled materials.  It's free fun for the whole family!

The 4 Amigos Guitar Show will be February 18th and 19th at the Factory in Franklin.  It's a guitar lovers dream with new and used gear and is designed to offer more than just a chance to buy and sell guitars. Many Nashville personalities attend this event, so you might see your favorite artist on location.

Downtown Art Crawl Expands to The Gulch

Every 1st Saturday of the month Nashville's beloved Downtown Art Crawl rolls out the red carpet and is now going to The Gulch!

Two Old Hippies (One of Nashville's Top 10 Businesses Opened in 2011) is hosting an art inspired event featuring a painting class by Heather McHugh and artwork by a local painters.

So hop on bus, make all the stops and be sure to swing by The Gulch for some peace, love and rock n' roll!  I'll also be there showing my music inspired artwork, so please say hi.  See ya Saturday :)

Celebrate July 4th Weekend in Music City

It's that time of year again, the 4th of July!  A holiday all about celebrating our amazing American freedom.

I'm so glad we signed the Declaration of Independence during the summer season because that means we can celebrate while enjoying sunshine, swimming, food, friends and fireworks!  Nashville has a lot going on this weekend, so get ready to plan your perfect holiday.

SATURDAY, JULY 2ND

Saturday afternoon is the last Musician's Corner until their fall season begins.  Don't miss out on sitting in Centennial Park under the oak trees on your picnic blanket.  The music plays from 3-6 PM featuring amazing artists Drew and Ellie Holcomb, Mockingbyrd, Emily Deloach, HummingHouse, Kristen Rogers, Robby Hecht and Nathanael Mehrens.

Then Saturday night is the Downtown Art Crawl and the Printer's Alley Block Party.  Mayor Karl Dean is even making an appearance at The Rymer Gallery from 7-8:30 PM, so bring your cameras and autograph book!  One time I was in his office for a meeting and noticed he has local artwork hanging all up and down the hallways.  I was very impressed with his collection.

SUNDAY, JULY 3RD

Sunday afternoon would be a great time to check out the Frist Center for the Visual Arts new exhibit featuring works by Andy Warhol, called "Warhol Live, Music and Dance in Andy Warhol's Work".  I've heard it is AMAZING!!  Then Sunday night at Riverfront Park there is a Prelude to the 4th with concerts starting at 6 PM and fireworks starting at 9:30 PM.

MONDAY, JULY 4TH

Now it's time to enjoy that day off work and celebrate!!  Sleep in, cook out and do whatever it takes to have the most amazing day ever.  Monday night is the Let Freedom Sing! Music City July 4th Spectacular at Riverfront Park and is one of the top 5 firework shows in the nation.  The music begins at 7 pm with Street Corner Symphony, Darius Rucker and the Nashville Symphony Orchestra.  Fireworks are scheduled to begin at 9:30 PM.  If you'd like to avoid the downtown madness, but still have a great view of the fireworks Adventure Science Fun Center has a place just for you!

I also recommend going to the Belle Meade County Club's golf course to see a spectacular fireworks show.  Park anywhere along Belle Meade Blvd. or side streets, take a chair or blanket and walk over to the golf course before the show starts at sundown.

Art Crawl's Fashion Finds A New Nashville Style

Last Saturday night, my fabulous photographer friend, Jill Batson, and I set out to find the best dressed in Nashville at the Downtown Art Crawl.

I chose Art Crawl as the perfect evening to find new and interesting fashion trends because the crowd that collects around 5th Avenue for the Arts is extremely diverse from hipsters to old rich people and everyone else in between. It didn't take long to run right into what we were looking for -- those who were fashion forward and not afraid to wear what our Mother's don't understand.

I am by no means a fashion expert, but I started playing dress up at a very young age and fell in love with clothes and accessories before I could talk. After high school I worked in a designer resale shop for three years in Texas called IZ Fashions, learning labels and putting together outrageous outfits for window displays. It was a fashion fantasy world and still today I long for playing dress up in designer clothes.

Inspired by Nashville's Fashion Week, I wanted to find what real people wear when they go out and I'm not the only one who wonders this -- Nashville fashion blogger, Heidi Jewell's eye for street style was recently mentioned on CNN.com.

When I'd ask, Where do you like to shop? All the answers started sounding the same. Everyone said, Thrift stores! Some favorites mentioned are vintage thrift stop, Goodbuy Girls in East Nashville and the local designer hot spot, Local Honey in the Belmont-Hillsboro area.

If you're not sure where to start shopping in Nashville, check out this awesome online shop directory called, NashVintage and if you're not sure what to shop for, I noticed some of the hottest trends for Spring are floral sun dresses, lace tights, ankle boots, hats, scarfs and large jewel toned necklaces.

Ever since that one day last week when we hit a high of 80 I can't stop thinking about Spring. It seems like every time April rolls around on the calender life becomes busier than ever! Sunshine and warm temperatures are wonderful, but pair that with music, art and fashion events taking place all over Nashville and you'll have a super fabulous Spring season. Nashville Fashion @ Art Crawl March 5th

In honor of Nashville Fashion Week I want to find the wildest most fashion forward people in Music City.

On Saturday, March 5th during the downtown Art Crawl I will be accompanied by local photographer, Jill Batson, scouting Nashville's most outrageous fashionistas.  Look for us on 5th Avenue outside the Rymer Gallery and Arcade  as we perform an impromptu street photo shoot.  Be ready to strike a pose and tell us where you like to shop.

Nashville's Art & Music Guide for February

Love is in the air!  Actually snow is, but let's forget about that for just a few minutes.

It's February!  That means it's time for groundhogs, Valentines, Mardi Gras, gifts and going out.  There's a lot going on this month, so I've put together a little list of To Dos for all the art & music lovers out there about how to celebrate this season with style.

When shopping for the perfect Valentines Day gift, make it one of a kind.  Original artwork is so hot right now and easy to find for the right price.  RetuneNashville.org has everything you need for the music lover in your life and all the money raised from your purchase goes  directly to charity.  It's an online auction, so check the pieces available this month and look out for After The Flood, the artwork I created with a built-in guitar!

Another great place to find affordable original art is The Hillsboro Village Art Walk which is Thursday, February 3rd from 5-8 PM.  It frequents the Hillsboro Village strip on the first Thursday of every month, so take your lover with you and buy them something special, go to Jackson's or Taps & Tapas and cuddle up with a cocktail.

This Saturday is the Downtown Art Crawl on February 5th!  This an amazing opportunity to check out Nashville's hottest art and spend an evening sipping wine and holding hands.  It's going to be a cold one this month, so get all dressed up in your cutest weather gear to stay warm from Broadway to 5th Avenue for the Arts.

If you're anything like the couple below you'll love this next date option.  Go see the William Eggleston's exhibit at The Frist Center for Visual Arts (admission is free until February 19th) and top it off with an evening at The Hermitage's Oak Room.  It's vintage, it's romantic and a great way to impress a new or longtime love.  From 4:30 - 6:30 The Oak Room has a happy hour special with 1/2 off appetizers if you want to save a few $$.

Looking for something with more twang?  Then Music City Roots is your answer.  Every Wednesday night in the Loveless Cafe Barn take a seat and listen to live music while the aroma of fried chicken and homemade biscuits linger from the kitchen.

Oscar Night in Nashville is February 27th and they are rolling out the red carpet at The Belcourt Theater.  Get your glamour on and mix and mingle with Nashville's biggest movie buffs.

Art Defining Music in Estel Gallery

An art inspired by music exhibition is kinda like my dream come true with a organic cherry on top.  There's nothing I love more than art inspired by music, but that's kinda goes without saying hence the nature of this blog.

I guess my Christmas has come early this year because there are seven musically inspired artists on display at the Estel Gallery in Nashville, Tennessee.

Art Defining Music is a new exhibition featuring work by Wes Freed, known for his album covers for rock band Drive-by-Truckers, Bob Masse, concert poster art king, Steve Keene, Jon Langford, Brian Kershisnik, Cole Closser and J. Micah Nelson.

It's a genius idea to group these artists together in Music City.  They are from all over the country, even Canada, so the art will be a great representation of the music our nation loves, not just Nashville.

The opening reception will be held this Saturday, December 4th from 6-9 PM during the Downtown Gallery Crawl.

Ev Niewoehner's Musical Interpretations

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow once said, Music is the universal language of mankind.  If that's true, which I believe it is, Nashville must be communicating to the world.

Musically inspired painters in Nashville are translating Music City into Music and Art City and Ev Niewoehner is showing us how.  This month Niewoehner is exhibiting his Musical Interpretations in the Premiere Gallery at the Tennessee Art League.

You may remember Ev, I blogged about him a few months back after I met him at one of the Downtown gallery crawls.  His recent exhibition opened in early November and can be seen until the end of the year.  The next best opportunity to see his work will be on December 4th during the next First Saturday Art Crawl.

I'm thankful for Ev and his musically interpretations because he is one more advocate bringing the art and music worlds together.  Nashville is known for it's music, but if my gut is right, I'd say art is what is going to be the next big attraction.

Nashville is going to communicate to the world using our eyes and ears.
